Stoneware matte glazes range from solid shades to those that create interesting color variations as they move and break. Application thickness is the key to making mattes work for you.
The choice of clay body, thickness of glaze application, firing process and temperature will affect the fired finish.

General Appearance of Black Walnut
Cone 6: A dark brown soft matte glaze that breaks rich warm brown.

Tips:
- The thinner the application, the lighter brown the color. The thicker the application, the darker brown the color.
- For a saturated opaque finish, apply 4 or more coats.
- This glaze is high in manganese, which allows it to combine well.
- Always test prior to use.
