Stoneware matte glazes range from solid shades to those that create interesting color variations as they move and break.  Application thickness is the key to making mattes work for you.

The choice of clay body, thickness of glaze application, firing process and temperature will affect the fired finish.

Cone 5/6 to cone 10.

General Appearance of Frost Blue

Cone 6:  A mottled soft blue matte glaze that breaks muted green/gray.

Cone 10:  Semi-gloss finish with variegated blue/light blue. Can exhibit green hues.

Tips:

  • This glaze has a satin finish.
  • Because of the chemical make-up, this glaze can vary between a green and blue finish.
  • If you like the fired results of Robins Egg (GL-SW116), you will enjoy this glaze because they are made of similar things.
  • Always test prior to use.

Dinnerware Safe.

Dry, 10 pounds.
