Large Cones provide users a practical method to monitor and verify the thermal uniformity and heatwork (the combined effect of temperature and time at temperature) inside their kiln. Today they are used by quality-conscious manufacturers who want a visual indication of the heatwork in locations throughout their kiln.
Large Cones must be mounted in a plaque at an 8-degree angle because mounting height and angle are critical for consistent results. See Large Pyrometric Plaque (OR-CP3).
To determine the best maturing temperature for your ware, we recommend that you use three cones for firing: one cone for the desired maturing temperature, one cone right below that temperature, and one cone right above it.
THIS IS CONE 9.
Fifty cones per box. Each cone approximately 2-inch tall.
