Technically, New Zealand is more of a halloysite than a kaolin. Chemically they are similar, but the mineralogy is a bit different. Kaolins tend to have a platy particle shape, while halloysite has more of a tubular morphology. But what matters most to clay folk is that it is the whitest burning kaolin available. Whiter than EPK, even whiter than Grolleg! It could prove to be an interesting replacement for other kaolins in glaze recipes. Please contact us if you have any questions about the material.
